Ahoy there....or as we say in the Cook Islands....'Kia Orana'.....Welcome to the Official web site of the Electron Yacht Club of Radio Controlled Sailing in Rarotonga.

We are a club made up of really enthusiastic, eccentric, shy individuals...and 'wannabe' ocean yacht owners....who meet each week trying to outdo each other in the art of yacht racing using the single class 'Electron' radio controlled yacht......

As well as many other enjoyments such as analyzing failed racing tactics, how to get the best performance from used batteries, 101 ways of drinking dark rum, telling extremely tall tales and so on.....In the relatively short time that this group has been together...the etiquette of sailing has evolved to an art form that is the admiration of the sailing community here and abroad.

We all live here in Paradise, on the Island of Rarotonga. The Cook Islands, are a small independent South Pacific Nation of fifteen islands scattered over this vast Pacific ocean, from about 10 degrees to 21 degrees south. We have a population of just 15,000 souls.....just to the left of Tahiti and about 3.5 hours flying time from New Zealand.

We are all financial and fully supportive members of the Rarotonga Sailing Club. We sail our boats from their Club verandah, close to the bar, on the beautiful tropical lagoon of Muri.

As well as being extremely focused on the art of radio controlled yachting and as members of the Rarotonga Sailing Club, one of our most important tasks is to support, finance where possible, and encourage 'Junior Sailing' through Optimist, Laser, Sunburst and Windsurfing programmes co-ordinated by the Cook Islands Yachting Federation.

Read on to find out more about 'Electron Class Radio Control Yacht Racing' in Paradise.
